Tracking debts in dollars and soums: multi-currency in pDaftar
Goods arrive in dollars, you sell to customers in soums, and some customers pay in dollars. On paper that turns into two columns that get muddled by the end of the month. In pDaftar every record keeps its own currency, balances are shown per currency, and conversion is calculated automatically wherever it is needed.
The shop’s default currency
When you create a shop, you choose its default currency — for most people that is UZS. Overall figures are calculated in this currency. You can change the default currency later in the shop settings, but the app warns you: recalculating the business’s main balance takes from 1 to 10 minutes.
The list of currencies comes from the server: UZS, USD and others, each with its own symbol. If you have several shops, each has its own default currency — a wholesale shop can run in dollars while a retail shop runs in soums. The default currency is there for overall figures; each individual debt, stock receipt or payment record never loses its own currency.
Choosing the currency on a record
When you record a debt, payment, stock receipt or expense, you choose the currency on that record. For a customer who always works in dollars, set a “Default currency” on their card and it will be selected automatically on later records. The same works for suppliers. The pin can be removed at any time.
A customer’s balance is shown in separate columns per currency: the debt in soums and the debt in dollars do not mix. The supplier page also has a two-currency balance. Employee salaries are recorded with a separate line for each currency, too. If you want, the SMS reminder sent to a customer can show all their currency balances — switch on the “All currency balances in SMS” setting for the whole business or for a single customer. This uses a separate SMS template, and the number of SMS parts may increase.
- Every record keeps its own currency
- “Default currency” for customers and suppliers
- Balances and SMS reminders — separate per currency
Exchange rates and conversion
The shop keeps its own rates: a selling rate and a buying rate, and when a rate changes the old value stays in the history. If a payment on an installment agreement comes in a different currency, it is converted to the agreement’s currency at the shop rate, and the rate used is saved on the payment. So months later you can still see why that payment equalled that many soums.
On a product return, however, the rate is not taken automatically: you enter the currency actually being refunded, the amount and the rate agreed with the customer by hand. This is deliberate, because the deal at the time of a return often differs from the market rate; the rate field accepts up to 12 decimal places. When subscription prices are displayed, the conversion is based on the central bank rate, and the app shows this under the entry.
Mobile and web
Currency records look the same in the mobile app and in the web version: a debt recorded in dollars on the phone stays in that currency on the computer. In the web version you pick a currency on the customer’s card and see the balance in that currency; the supplier balance is also split by currency. So at the end of the month the answer to “how much in soums, how much in dollars” is already there.

Can I record debts for one customer in both soums and dollars?
Yes. Every record keeps its own currency, and the customer’s balance is shown in separate columns per currency.
Is a dollar debt converted to soums automatically?
The record stays in its own currency. Conversion is calculated at the shop rate for overall figures and for payments made in a different currency.
What happens if I change the default currency?
Balances are recalculated in the new default currency. This takes from 1 to 10 minutes, and the app warns you beforehand.
Is multi-currency available on the free plan?
Yes, choosing a currency on a record is available on every plan, including the free one.
