Buy by the box, sell by the piece: multiple units per product
Your supplier hands over goods by the box, and you sell them to customers one piece at a time. Track stock in boxes and you lose count of the pieces; track it in pieces and you are multiplying at every delivery. In pDaftar a product can carry several units, and the app does the conversion for you.
Base unit and extra units
Every product has one base unit — usually the piece. The stock on hand is always kept in that unit. On top of it you add extra units: box, bag, pack. For each extra unit you say how many base units it contains, for example “1 box = 12 pieces”.
From then on you record deliveries in boxes and sales in pieces. The app keeps the balance in the base unit and shows roughly how much will be left after a sale. The conversion factor can even be a fraction — the app stores it exactly.

A separate price for each unit
A box does not always cost twelve times the piece price — wholesale and retail prices differ. So each unit gets its own price. On the receiving screen the “Add in another unit or currency” button opens several lines for a single product: the box can be in soums and the piece in dollars.
When you pick a product in the sales calculator, you pick the unit too. The line is saved with the unit name and conversion factor as they were at that moment. Even if you change the conversion later, old sales are not affected — every entry has its own unit locked in.
Units in deliveries, returns and price history
When receiving stock, every line shows the quantity, unit, cost price and currency. Open the document in the receipt history and you will see which unit you received it in. On a return to the supplier the app shows the original unit and the base unit side by side, so returning half a box causes no confusion.
The price history remembers the unit as well: a change in the box price and a change in the piece price are separate entries. That way you can see exactly which unit the cost price went up in.
Where you set it up
Units are configured in the mobile app, in the “Set up product units” window on the product card. In the web version, when you record a delivery, you choose whether to count the product as pieces or packs, and you can switch several lines to the same method at once. The stock on hand looks the same on both sides.
The same choice appears on the review screen for an AI-scanned invoice or a delivery note received by QR code: “Pieces” or “Packs” for each line, or an “Apply to all” button to make every line the same. The number of pieces in a box must be a whole number, while quantities can be entered to six decimal places — for goods sold by the kilogram, for example.
How to use it
- Open the product card in the Warehouse section.
- Open the “Set up product units” window and check the base unit.
- Add a new unit: choose its name and answer “How many pieces in 1 box?”.
- When receiving stock, enter the unit you need and the price for that unit.
- When selling, choose the unit on the product line — the stock on hand goes down in the base unit.
Frequently asked questions
If I change the conversion later, will old sales change?
No. Every sale, delivery and price entry is saved with its own unit and conversion factor. The new factor applies only to documents created after the change.
My old products were created without units — what do I do?
When you receive stock, the app asks for the unit of that product once. After you choose, it becomes the base unit and you are not asked again.
Can I buy the same product in both soums and dollars?
Yes. Every line in a delivery has its own currency, so one delivery can hold two currencies. A separate invoice is created for each currency.
Can I sell half a box or 1.5 kilograms?
Yes. Quantities can be fractional, and the stock on hand goes down precisely in the base unit. Only the number of pieces in a box has to be a whole number.
